The Foster Five: Melody’s Lifesaving Rescue

Melody spotted a Facebook post about kittens in urgent need of help and knew she couldn’t wait. When she arrived at the yard, she learned the heartbreaking news that two of the kittens had already passed. The remaining three were vulnerable—not only sick but threatened by a territorial raccoon nearby.

With the help of her mom and sister, Melody quickly set up a foster space and a care schedule for all five cats (the mama, 3 kittens, and another friendly cat), whom she lovingly dubbed the “Foster Five.” Flea baths, bottle feedings, and round-the-clock attention became part of their daily routine. Over time, these tiny rescues grew stronger, healthier, and more playful—thanks to the dedication of their foster family and the support of generous donors.

Melody documented the journey with photos, capturing every milestone, from their first meals to playful tumbles. Each image tells a story of resilience, hope, and the power of kindness.

💛 You can help the next litter in need! Every donation to TAILS goes directly to caring for kittens like the Foster Five. And through October 31, every dollar is doubled up to $1,000—giving twice the support to cats who need it most.

First snuggles and safety

Mama Cassie (striped) is such a sweetheart with her kittens. And lucky cat Zoie (beautifully unique grey coat with tan markings) is so happy to be well fed, enjoying bird watching from the comforts of the indoors.

Did somebody order kittens? We can’t believe how cute these little bundles of joy are. Pepper, Peanut, and Pumpkin aren’t quite ready for adoption yet. In the meantime, they are fattening up, and soaking up all the love they can get at their amazing foster home.
