Petco Cat Care Checklist

☐ Sign in with a Petco employee at the register to get the cat key 

☐ Set up the gate securely to keep cats in

☐ Unlock bottom doors for supplies
If food is running low, ask a Petco employee for more - WholeHearted only, All Life Stages

☐ Locate the binder and sign in on the Cat Care and Maintenance Log

☐ Open one cubby at a time and allow/assist cat(s) to come out
Do not force cats to come out. Only cats who share cubbies may be taken out together.

☐ Remove all items from cubby – food, water, bedding, toys

☐ Sweep cubby

☐ Spray Rescue disinfectant on cubby and window and wipe dry

☐ Fill water bowls to the top with clean water (refill auto water bowls if dirty, or low on water). 

☐ Fill dry food bowls and give one can of WholeHearted wet food per cat 

Use paper plates for wet food. If needed: please empty out and thoroughly clean dishes before refilling them!

☐ Scoop litter 
If litter is dirty: please dump all litter into a garbage bag. At the end of your shift, disinfect and refill box with clean litter from store’s litter area (do not overfill). Do not leave cats out unattended.

☐ Return all items to cubby

☐ Play and interact with the cat(s)

☐ Return cat(s) to cubby

☐ LOCK cubby

☐ Sanitize your hands between cubbies 

☐ Repeat steps for each occupied cubby

☐ Complete Cat Care and Maintenance Log and Cat Report Logs (in binder)

☐ Return all supplies and toys 

If needed: refill large dry food container, empty dirty water container, and disinfect and refill dirty litter boxes with clean litter (do not overfill). If you need more litter, refill the litter container with the self-service litter from the store.

☐ Recheck ALL cubby locks! 

☐ Fold up and store gate 

☐ Bring garbage to the back room and place in a lined trash can

☐ Return cat key to the register and sign out
