LOW COST SPAY NEUTERING DOES EXIST!

THANK YOU for getting your pet spay/neutered! Listed below are resources in our area which will help save money on the cost of the spay or neuter, while protecting the quality of the service. TAILS, although in no means affiliated other than a client, has (and continues to) use each of these options below and recommends them frequently.

Before you take a look at the options - here are some interesting points about the importance of spay/neutering and the answers to some frequently asked questions:

  1. The recommended age for spay/neutering is 2-6 months of age.
  2. Female animals should be spayed before their first heat; they do not need to have a litter before being spayed.
  3. Spaying or neutering your pet can decrease the risk of disease injury.
  4. Pets who are spayed/neutered have decreased or zero risk of certain types of cancer (e.g., testicular cancer, mammary cancer).
  5. Altering your pets reduces and often eliminates annoying behaviors.
  6. And, most importantly, spay/neutering ends the chance of generations of future homeless animals!

Low Cost Spay/Neuter Resources:

Friends of Animals
www.friendsofanimals.org or (800)321-7387

TYPE: Certificate program: You purchase a spay or neuter certificate and make an appointment with one of many veterinarians in our area who participate in the program.

For further info/purchase: call (800) 321-7387 or visit http://friendsofanimals.org/programs/spaying-neutering/

Note: FoA certificates are not valid for a cat if the cat is to be declawed. (Cats need their claws for protection and for their physical/mental well-being. Declawing is painful, cruel and psychologically damaging and will most likely alter your cat’s personality dramatically – keep in mind any vet who recommends this procedure is making money from that recommendation! Try Googling “cat declaw” online.)
